This folk story is inspired by a real forest of crooked pine trees in Poland. There is no plot, instead the narrator seeks to ponder the mystery. He speaks directly to the young reader, supposing possible magical solutions but ultimately challenges the reader to seek their own.The watercolour illustrations are quite beautiful and the textured paper adds to the aesthetics. For young children.
Photos of the forest can be found online.
