Without a doubt it is the range of interesting and unusual characters, that bring the life into this book. It is a time travel text, based around the ongoing motif of a watch maker and a very special pocket watch. It is full of twists and turns and challenges for the main character Julius Higgins, who finds himself facing numerous moral dilemmas and being caught up in difficult situations with these characters, while not really knowing who he can trust or believe. The explanations about the way the time travel works tends to be quite complicated in parts, and the reader would need to be able to work through these in ways that make sense for them, so in this respect it is probably a book best suited for readers who have had previous experience in reading time travel texts. A particularly interesting aspect of the book is the ways in which the author has integrated names and events from history. Suitable for readers 13+.
