Janeen Brian (text), Chantal Stewart (illus.), I Spy Dad!, New Frontier Publishing, 1 August 2016, 32pp., $14.99 (pbk), ISBN 9781925059649
An imaginative variation on the game of I Spy, beloved of children. However the search here involves a nameless little girl looking for her father. She encounters 18 dads each of whom is busy with a different activity, from reading or sewing to rap dancing or mowing. The illustrations are the chief delight, capturing perfectly the fun, humour and action of the simply told story. The small amount of text is set in a large, clear typeface that would be very helpful for those learning to read. Ages 3-6.
